What happened to Mr. Thompson?

You have a good friend, Mr. Thompson, who came to town to attend a conference. After the event, you went out to dinner, as you hadn’t seen each other in a long time. At the end of the evening, you headed home, and he returned to his motel room. This morning, however, your attempts to reach him were in vain. He hasn’t made a sound, which is completely unlike him. You conducted a little investigation and discovered that he isn’t the first person to go missing from that particular motel room. You decided to pay him a visit, but the reception staff reacted very strangely to your request; they granted you only one hour before the staff needs to clean the room. You have a feeling that adhering to this one-hour time limit has never been more critical. Search the room while you still can, and find out what happened to Mr. Thompson!
